Chapter 12 - Pirates No More

1. What was Tom's daring plan?

Tom did not like Sundays because:

  1. he had to memorise at least five verses of the Bible for Sunday school.

  3. he had to wear his 'other clothes'

2. Why did Tom make the plan?

At first, Tom just wet the soap and poured away the water. Being compelled by Mary, he bathed and returned groping for the towel with his hands, while soap suds and water dripped from his face. Even after wiping himself with the towel, he was still not scrubbed to Mary's satisfaction.

3. Describe the scene in the church before the boys walked in.

Mary got Tom ready for Sunday school, in exchange for a brand new pocket knife.

4. What did Aunt Polly and the Harpers do when they realized that the boys were alive?

Tom did not have a wide choice of clothes. He disliked his 'other clothes' as he was wearing the same clothes on all Sundays for the last two years.
